The home was designed for a client who lost their Kinglake home in the devastating 2009 Black Saturday fires. Technical Protection Solutions was involved with this energy efficient fire resistant home by providing Forster Unico profiles for the door and window package.

The Forster Unico thermally broken steel framing system is made to last many lifetimes, is made of 100% recyclable steel and contains no synthetic insulating materials.

“The windows in this house are incredible... It all started with a school excursion, I was sitting on the bus and I got talking to one of the other parents. Turns out he was in the business of fire rated doors and I told him how I had designed and made many different steel framed windows and doors but always struggled with a thermal break. Next thing I know Steve drops off a profile from Switzerland and a few months later we had our first prototype.” - Joost Bakker.
